Hollywood rarely releases a movie that doesn't contain some sort of objectionable or offensive content. So we regularly use a filtering device called ClearPlay to help make up for Hollywood's lack of discipline and restraint. See more comments about ClearPlay here. Below is my list of movies showing various viewing preferences (to filter or not to filter, etc.). Click here to see an explanation of the icons.
I rely heavily on reviews from PluggedIn. I recommend this site heartily to discerning parents and individuals who wish to carefully navigate through (and around) the many media choices of the day.

Personal Preferences and Principles
- As a conservative Christian parent, Hollywood and television productions rarely impress and regularly disappoint me. A "good movie" is indeed very hard to come by these days.
- I don't bother with remakes of old comedies. They'll just be sexed-up and more blatantly immoral than the original thanks to the absence of propriety and creativity of modern screen writers.
- I can't stand to watch these actors (except on certain occasions when they play the "bad guy"): Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, Ted Danson.
- I can't stand to watch these actresses: Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O'Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg
- I generally like: Sci-Fi, cerebral movies.
- I generally don't like: Westerns
